On-site conference interpretation or simultaneous translation is the mode of translation in which an oral communication (speeches, presentations, lectures, classes, panels) in a given language is simultaneously interpreted into another language or languages by interpreters sitting in soundproof booths thru the use of special simultaneous interpretation equipment.
This interpretation mode is widely adopted because it offers optimal use of time, as participants using headsets receive the communication in the desired language(s) through their headsets in real time.
Smaller meetings or visits can also benefit from the agility of simultaneous interpretation, using our portable equipment, a more flexible and suitable option for certain situations.
Due to the high level of concentration and its ensuing mental fatigue one single interpreter can only work alone in simultaneous interpretation mode for up to 45 minutes to one hour. After a full hour, two interpreters are needed, alternating every 30 minutes thus ensuring the same level of translation quality throughout the meeting.
Consecutive interpretation is that situation in which the speaker speaks for a few minutes and then pauses for the interpreter next to him/her to convey the content in another language. More suitable for short meetings, brief speeches, one-off lectures, etc.
In this interpretation mode one single interpreter can work alone for up to two hours. For longer meetings, two interpreters are required.
